- Title origin: I was mostly thinking of that old "My kingdom for a horse" line when I came up with this title. I've always had troubles with titles, and it's rare that I can come up with a catchy one that makes sense. In this case I think I made it sort of halfway. Anyway, after writing and releasing the story, I was informed by an older friend that the line is really "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a good steed". I don't know if that makes any difference on the title here, but just thought I'd mention it...

- This story is in desperate need of a rewrite. It's pretty good considering that I was all of sixteen when I wrote it, and it was only the third fanfic I had ever written. However, it's less good when you are aware of the fact that I am now a good six or seven years older, and make efforts to maintain characterization etc. On the other hand, I'm also my own worst critic. *G* I just see way too many things that need improving, and I really do intend to rewrite this story when I get the chance... which unfortunately probably won't be for a while yet.

- I'd been considering Beth as a character for years - actually, since about six months after I got into the show, back in 1991. I remember walking around on some longs walks I'd take, and making up stories for her and the others. Of course, seeing as how I was only about 13 at that time, the stories were not great. A lot of them had salvageable plots, and I have either used them or intend to modify and use them - but some of them were just... eheh. Beth as originally conceived was a lot more outgoing and brash (well, after she "came out of her shell"), and although she was to be just as smart she was a lot more headstrong. (I like the version I've written a LOT more.) I had one story idea which I swear I will now never use in which she took on a hero persona and competed with Darkwing. Gah. That wasn't Beth, it was some sort of mutant lookalike! Yeah, that's it... :P Thankfully, I grew out of the "she can do EVERYTHING!" phase well before I ever started writing.

- People have asked me, why does Beth ignore Launchpad and fall for Drake so quickly? Well, this will be delved into a bit better in the rewrite, I promise. However, although I wasn't thinking about it too extensively at the time - I just like love triangles *blush* - my reasoning at this point is that Beth has incredibly low self-esteem. So, she displaced any attraction she had for the hunky, muscular adventurous-looking pilot type onto the non-threatening, attainable, suburban father type. And even then she knew she didn't have a chance, but hey, at least she wasn't making a fool out of herself by aiming too high. As for why LP falls for Beth... who knows? I'm still trying to figure that one out logically. *G*

- I will admit it: I love writing Megavolt. He's definitely one of my favourite characters, due in no small part to Dan Castellaneta's portrayal of him; but also because he's just so... so... (crazy-nutty-coocoo?) Um, different. :) Oddly enough, in this fic I feel that his was the character I captured most accurately. I've always had a leaning towards sense of humour and getting to write comical stuff, and Megs provides that in spades. ^_^ My favourite moment is most likely "Oh yeah... I was up real high." *THUD*

- Another question I get a lot: Why is Drake so mean to Beth? Well, Beth is one of those types who can really bring out either the best or the worst in someone. In a person who is as impatient and (let's face it) self-centred as Drake (and I mean that in a nice way), she brings out the worst. The Muddlefoots do it too. Drake just doesn't have a lot of patience for strangers, and he tends to make up his mind about people really quickly; Beth was not the most effective person in the world when they met at Bindlers, and it cemented his impression of her. Of course, he does alter it a bit in stories to come. I do agree when people say that he's still a bit too hard on her in these, though. I didn't mean to make him a total creep, just cranky. Another thing to fix in the rewrites.

- This story was MiSTed in an incredibly funny way about a year ago. Go here to read it. ^_^

- All of the above said, however, I'm still fond of this story. It introduces a lot of stuff that can be played with later. And dang it all to high heaven, but I like Henny. She's terrible and I just love her. Unfortunately no one else seems to share my opinion of her, so I don't use her a whole lot, but she just cracks me up. *G*
