- Title origin: The line itself comes from "Jingle Bells". Bells on bobtails ring, making Christmas bright, what fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight! What's cool about it, though, is that it's punnish - an actual line from a song but it also refers to Megavolt's role in the story, and to Darkwing's whole dealie with the lights. Honestly I think it's probably my most clever title ever... which is sad, really. ;)
- References: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes ("It's a MAAAADHOUSE!"), National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, "The Simpsons", It's a Wonderful Life (oddly enough, not one of the seasonal lines), "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street", and of course, the DW Christmas episode, "It's a Wonderful Leaf".
- This story started life as a much longer story that had Beth in it. Although I liked the story, I've always said it felt like three different stories all squashed together, and to sort of lessen that I thought I'd separate the stories and rewrite 'em. This is the only one I've gotten around to doing that with, though. The plot is such that Beth didn't need to be in it at all; Honker took her place nicely, and if you ask me, it's a sweeter story for having Honker in it. He's just such a little cutie. ^_~
- I'd estimate probably around 60% of it was in the original and maybe only slightly altered. The rest is new; all the stuff in the Learnatorium, and in fact the Learnatorium itself, was added in the rewrite. The Learnatorium was based on places like the Discovery Store, Imaginarium, and the like. I think I made up the name but I'll probably find out a while after writing this that I didn't. ;)
- Personal favourite moment: Megavolt turning and not seeing Darkwing, and checking the soles of his feet as if he might have stepped on him. *snicker*
- I love writing the Muddlefoots. Especially Herb. Such a nice, friendly, irritating fella. ^_^ But honestly, I like all of 'em. Even Tank. I may not be able to think of much for Tank to do most of the time, but when I can use him I like to...
- The ending is a LITTLE abrupt, I won't pretend otherwise. But it's a vignette, more than a full story, and that's where the vignette ends. *shrug* And at least it ends on a good punchline - not to mention that it's a full circle, since we close with the conclusion to what we opened with: DW's efforts to win the lights competition, and Herb's inevitable victory over him. *g*
