Q: How did Steelbeak's beak become - well, steel?
A: No one really knows, although he has said that F.O.W.L. did it to him. He doesn't say why, though - whether it was because his beak was damaged in an accident and they replaced it for him, or they did it to him as punishment - rather a creepy thought...
Q: Does Steelbeak have an origin episode? How did he and DW meet?
A: No, there's no origin ep for Steelbeak, so he's one of the series's most mysterious villains. We can assume that he and Darkwing met when he was already working for F.O.W.L. and DW was out on a mission for SHUSH; we do, however, know that by Tiff of the Titans, the earliest Steelbeak episode, Steelie and DW already knew each other.
Q: Has Steelbeak ever worked with any other villains DW has faced?
A: Other than Ammonia Pine and other F.O.W.L. agents, no, he's never teamed up with any of DW's other enemies. Which is too bad, really - he and Negaduck would probably make a nearly unstoppable team. Steelbeak has met Taurus Bulba, aka the Steerminator, but they definitely didn't work together. In fact, Bulba tried to fry him.
Q: Is Steelbeak the head of F.O.W.L.?
A: No, he reports to F.O.W.L. High Command. He does appear to be one of the top-ranking agents, though; still, High Command has the power to make or break Steelie, and they're the only people you'll ever see him kowtow to.
Q: Is this the same F.O.W.L. that's in the DuckTales episode "Double-O Duck"? If so, why isn't Steelbeak in that episode? And why doesn't he recognize that LP looks like Bruno VonBeak?
A: Well, that's a tricky question. We don't have any proof that they're the same organization, especially because in that episode F.O.W.L. stands for the "Foreign Organization of World Larceny" rather than the "Fiendish Organization" etc etc. But, if we were to assume that the organizations are the same, and just had a minor name change, those are good questions. I'd say that it's probably because that episode took place a while before the start of our DW series, and Steelie probably wasn't an agent there yet. And it's entirely possible that, in the interim, VonBeak was phased out (or terminated - yeek), so Steelbeak would never have seen him and thus wouldn't notice the resemblance to Launchpad.
Q: Why is Steelbeak a bad guy, instead of working for SHUSH?
A: Especially in light of F.O.W.L.'s little nose job number, huh? No one can really say, but I say it's because of greed. At SHUSH Steelbeak would be just another agent, but at F.O.W.L. he has money, power, prestige - plus he gets to be really vicious, and he seems to like that. People are scared of him, and it's clear that he likes it that way. Steelie might have a very charming side to him, but it's also clear that he likes his position at F.O.W.L.
Q: Is Steelbeak entirely sane?
A: No proof either way, really, but he does have a pretty intense nasty streak. Under pressure, especially when Darkwing messes up his plans, Steelie can go from smooth-talking and arrogantly charming to psychotic at the drop of a hat. He obviously does not like not having things go his way.
Q: No question yet about Steelbeak and the ladies? 8) How would you classify his attitude/behavior towards women? (user, chivalrous, lecher, debonair, predator, monogomous, sexist, etc.) (submitted by cartoon6@hotmail.com)
A: At the risk of seeming rather cliché, since I'm sure you could easily look deeper into Steelie and find a better answer, I'm going to say he's got a very "user" attitude. He's charming - he knows it. He likes the attention. Every time we see Steelbeak with women, he's treating them like objects: he has female Eggmen (er, that's probably not the right term for 'em, but yeah) and only has them wait on him instead of using them as henchmen. He also uses his charms to manipulate Ammonia Pine, when he very clearly has no interest in her whatsoever (though she turns the tables on him, mwahahahaaaa). So it's not to say that Steelbeak couldn't have respect for women, but he sure hasn't shown much sign of it yet. Like I said, he clearly likes having women falling all over him, and he plays it up a lot. *G*
Q: What happend to Steelbeak after "Steerminator"? Did he
really relocate to Miami, or did Taurus Bulba turn him into KFC?? (submitted by ladyscarkeeper@yahoo.com)
A: Well, speculation only, but I simply can't believe that THAT was the end of Steelbeak. We're left with a rather ominous moment, but as angry as Bulba was (and probably homicidal), Steelbeak did not get to the top of F.O.W.L. without a reaaaally good survival instinct. I have to believe in my gut that he got away, even if it was by pushing a few Eggmen in front of him and making a run for it. As for relocating to Miami - who knows? I'm sure he got the heck away from wherever Bulba would be, though.
Q: If he doesn't like High Command, why doesn't he go and
start his own F.O.W.L.-like organization? I'm sure that the mafia would
want someone like him in. (submitted by Annonymously Incorrect)
A: They'd better have a good protection program. *G* As with many Organizations of Evil, I have a feeling you don't just "leave" F.O.W.L. On the other hand, that may well be an answer to what happened after "Steerminator", as in the above question! A third answer I'll stick in here is that Steelie might just stick around because he's climbing the ladder - at least, up to the end of the series - and hopes to either join, or eventually OVERTHROW High Command.
Q: I used to be a big fan of DarkWing Duck just a correction on steelbeek his name was Mock Chicken (submitted by ja_rule24@hotmail.com)
A: I have never heard of that in my life. Anyone know where this info came from? If it's canon, I'd like to know, but if it's fanon I'd also like to be able to say so here.
