Frequently Asked Questions

Q: So, how did this all start? What's Quackerjack's story?
A: Well, we don't have a great many details on that. Quackerjack's first appearance was in "Whiffle While You Work", as a self-professed former toymaker whose profits and business were gradually destroyed by the Whiffle Boy video game industry. Quackerjack hates video games, declaring that they "rot your brain", and takes on this villainous identity to gain vengeance on the Whiffle Boy people. He attacks with a great number of mechanical henchmen - er, henchtoys, and nearly succeeds in wiping out Whiffle until DW stops him. After that, he just keeps showing up - sometimes with the apparent intent of starting up his toy business again, and other times just for the fun and lunacy of a crime spree. 'Cause at no particular time or appearance does Quackerjack ever come across as sane. ;)

Q: ...That's it? What about real name, age, etc?
A: No idea. Nothing was ever stated on the show, at all. Name, family, age, education, history... nothin'. All we know is that he likes toys.

Q: Was it the competition that eventually drove him crazy, or do you think there was more to Jack's story than what we heard that made him what he is?
A: I have no idea. In fact, I personally wonder if the history he gave was even really true. I mean, maybe he's just a total loony with a talent for making toys, but was never actually in the toy retail business at all. Maybe he just made up a reason to go after the Whiffle Boy company. He certainly never showed any interest in destroying Whiffle Boy after his first episode. And after all, with a laugh like the one he has, he'd better be crazy. Or else he got teased mercilessly for it as a kid. ;)

Q: Does Quackerjack ever appear dressed in anything normal? Or at least, something other than the jester suit?
A: We have seen him in a few other outfits, but they usually have the jester suit underneath them. Watch "Stressed to Kill" to see him in a variety of different costumes. And watch "The Haunting of Mr. Banana Brain" to see him in a business suit, and at one point, in his underwear. If you're into that kind of thing. ;P

Q: Is Megavolt Quackerjack's best friend?
A: In as much as Quackerjack - or Megavolt, for that matter - has any real friends, then yes. Quacky and Megs team up together solo on more than one occasion: "Just Us Justice Ducks part I", "Stressed to Kill", and "Time and Punishment" all put them together. They don't exactly seem to have a warm friendship - they mock each other and fight constantly. But hey, they're working together willingly, and they do seem to have a good time together...

Q: Does Quackerjack really make his own toys?
A: As we've seen directly in episodes like "Toys Czar Us" and "Life, the Negaverse, and Everything", yes, he does. He's really a genius at it, too.

Q: And then he uses them as weapons, right? What are his most commonly used toys?
A: Well, Mr. Banana Brain, obviously. The doll is his constant companion (and even got his own episode! Woo!), and Quackerjack makes him "talk" and doesn't seem to be aware that the doll isn't talking on its own. He has also used some menacing robotic teddy bears, a giant crying baby doll, grim reaper dolls (Darkwing's reaction: "Quackerjack... get help."), a heavily-armed clown, an incredibly boring talking doll called "Mr. History", a very similar model called "Mr. Trivia Buff", exploding toy soldiers, and the constant and always-useful giant novelty teeth. Very dangerous, those. ^_~ There are others, of course... But I don't have room for them all here O_o

Q: Why does he seem crazier in some episodes than in others?
A: Well, I think he's really one level of crazy - that is, delusional and wacko - but there are certain episodes when he "lets his hair down", so to speak. Such as "Jailbird" - Quackerjack is at his absolute wackiest in that one, to an extent that surprises even the other members of the Fearsome Five. But I doubt he's that bad normally - I think he just was having a good time in that one. ^_~

Q: If you were going to guess Quackerjacks age, what would you say? I'm thinking about late 20's early 30's. (submitted by ami_mercury00@sailormoon.com)
A: Myself, I'm thinking later than that. Mid-to-late thirties is what I think, maybe even later than that. After all, he has lost his teeth... and look at the bags under his eyes! ;P

Q: Just what exactly do you think Quackerjack is? I mean, I've heard him called a duck, a loon, a weird mix of both... What do you think? (submitted by daughter_of_venom@yahoo.com)
A: I think he is a duck. Not that I know what a loon would look like in the Disneyverse, but he pretty much looks like a duck to me. I think he LAUGHS like a loon, though. ^_~

Q: How does Quackerjack look like when he's a pirate in the episode "Darkwing Doubloon"? I can't find a picture or a description from that one on the internet. (submitted by dejavuke@hotmail.com)
A: He looks... 'bout the same, actually.

Q: Does Quackerjack have any hair? (submitted by kid@address.ca)
A: The one time we've seen him without his hat on, he was bald. Of course, Launchpad has been bald a few times and had hair at other times, so normally I wouldn't say that it's definite, except we've never seen him WITH hair. So, in terms of the show, I say no; no hair.
