Okay boys and girls, let's open the magic book and see what we can find out about
Terry McGovern!
Alrighty, well, first of all; I don't know what year he was born, but according to the
at-times-notoriously-unreliable Internet Movie Database, his birthday is on the 11th of
May. So mark your calendars so that you remember to send him that birthday card!
Terry has had a long career of voice work, with the occasional foray into physical acting
as well. However, generally he is known best for his voice, as many of his more recent
roles have been in video games and the like. As a matter of fact, Terry is now an instructor in voice and acting classes at various schools: Voice One in San Francisco, the University of San Francisco, and the College of Marin. In addition to the acting, he also teaches script-writing and history of broadcast announcing.
Much of Terry's earliest work was as a radio DJ in San Francisco in the 60's and 70's, and he currently is very active in the broadcasting field as well, being the voice of BAY-TV in San Francisco and having pulled numerous radio and TV anchor work.
Of course, Darkwing fans who are here to find out more about Terry are probably less interested in his broadcast work and more interested in his acting, so without further ado, on to that. ;)
One of Terry's first roles was in George Lucas's "THX 1138" in 1970, and the two
have worked together a few times since then, particularly if you count all the Star Wars
video games Terry's been working on lately. As an aside for a moment, imagine my thrill on discovering that the voice actor of one of my all-time favourite cartoon characters is also historically involved in one of my favourite movies of all time, too! Yep - Terry did some uncredited looping for "Star Wars" (and is a self-described Star Wars "fanatic", *stupid fangirl giggling*, that is SO cool)! Among other things, he delivers the immortal and always memorable line "These aren't the droids we're looking for." WOOHOO! :D Terry also inadvertently created the term "Wookiee", after using it in front of Lucas during some of their work together. *more stupid fangirl giggling* Things like this just make you believe in fate. Or six degrees of separation. Or something like that. *sigh* ^_^
In addition to a good number of George Lucas works, including "American Grafitti", Terry also
seems to have been a rather reliable staple for small character roles in Robin Williams movies
of the mid-nineties, specifically "Mrs. Doubtfire" (playing, ironically, the voice-over
director in the opening) and "Jack". He also played a doctor in "Nine Months", which admittedly
did not have Robin Williams in it, but it was by Chris Columbus, who produced "Mrs. Doubtfire".
Other than that, my vote for the most 'interesting' film Terry has appeared in most definitely
goes to "Amazon Women On the Moon", though if you blink, you'll miss him.

Here is a list of most of the voice work which Terence McGovern has done in his career. It's
not everything - check Voice Chasers and IMDB to get a fuller list. :)
...Since Darkwing, most of what he's done has been video games. He's appeared in "The Curse of Monkey Island", "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron", "Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith", "Star Wars: Episode One - Racer", and "Star Wars: Force Commander". Look for 'em at a store near you, I guess. :)
