Christine Cavanaugh

Unlike many of her peers on Darkwing, Christine has had significant work in both voice acting and live action roles. Additionally, she's one of the cast members who has gone on to achieve mainstream recognition for her voice (even if it is as "that talking pig"). ;) It seems that a lot of Christine's roles have gone on to become famous - not just Babe, but Chuckie in "Rugrats" (two movies so far!) and Dexter's Laboratory on the Cartoon Network! From what I can tell, she started working around 1989, 'cause those are the earliest roles by her that I can find.

As I mentioned previously, the lovely Ms. Cavanaugh has had several screen roles as well, and those who have seen them know that I am not just being mindlessly flattering when I refer to her as "lovely". Christine Cavanaugh is adorable! If I were a guy I would have the BIGGEST crush on her. *G* I first actually saw her when I was watching a Nickelodeon tv show called "Salute Your Shorts" (yes, I watched it, don't shoot me) and noticed that when this one character who was guest-starring threw her back out she sounded EXACTLY like Gosalyn. So I watched the end credits and sure enough, it was Christine! ("Those are pretty shoes... Y'all have some nice shoes!") It was a good episode, too. Really cute. ^_^ She had a second one that was, IMO, just as cute. *g*

Anyway, Christine is not limited to obscure and goofy Nickelodeon shows, no sir! She's had guest roles in a number of popular television shows, both past and present! From "Cheers" to "Herman's Head" (which seemed to be a real haven for voice actors, though mostly Simpsons alumni *g*) to "ER" to "The X-Files", she's been all over the place! Yep - the X-Files. Now I have not managed to see this episode, but everyone I've talked to who has seen it says it's a really good one, and they have no idea who Christine is. *g* It's called "Small Potatoes" and Christine plays a woman who believes that Luke Skywalker is the father of her child, if I'm not mistaken. ^_^ So that's highly recommended....

In voice roles, Christine essentially got her start in cartoons in 1991 when she began doing both Chuckie on "Rugrats" and Gosalyn on "Darkwing". From there she got a role on "The Critic", and Nickelodeon's "Ahhh! Real Monsters" (gah :P), and the next thing you know, she's famous as Babe, the talking Pig! She had a little guest star role in "Jerry Maguire" (which makes me want to go watch that movie again), and the next steady role she landed was the decidedly bizarre voice of Dexter in "Dexter's Lab". Now, it's when you put this next to her role in "Real Monsters" and Chuckie and Gosalyn that you sorta realize two things: One, they're all different; and two, they all are almost exactly the same voice, just delivered in totally different ways. I love this woman! They might all be the same voice, but no one would ever accuse Dexter of sounding like Chuckie. *G*

In any case, her most recent work was "Rugrats In Paris", and of course, the continuing Rugrats series. Those babies are never going to grow up. ;P Oh, and a little trivia: I believe that Christine provided the voices for Gosalyn's principal in an episode of Darkwing, and of the baby Dragon in the DW episode "Kung Fooled".
