Greetings, all. This is your friendly DW site-runnin', question-answerin', artwork archivin' fangirl Zebeckras, ready to make herself a bit less popular by putting a slight monkeywrench into the works.
I've been working with the DW pages, including the FAQs, for a good five years now; though it's only been since I put in the forms on each FAQ page that I've really gotten as many submissions as I'm getting now. And I am thrilled. Honestly, no complaints about the volume, because I like answering your questions as much as you guys appear to like asking them. :)
Well... usually. On occasion there come some questions I can't answer, which is not exactly your fault or mine. After all, I've never set any restrictions up on these things over the years, so it's not like I can say "Hey, I told you never to ask that!" So, now, I'm setting up restrictions so that I can say "hey, I told you..." And so on. ;)
Basically, the deal is, there are a lot of good questions I've been asked, which speculate on the terms set forth by the show and how they might work out. Like the questions I've received about Megavolt and whether he can drink liquids, or whether the Liquidator can control liquids other than water. But then there are others. Because I can't answer them, I can't put them up, but I've decided I'm going to use them here as examples of the kinds of questions I'm *not* looking for. I don't mean any disrespect to the people who have asked them, I know they meant well, and I'm not doing this to humiliate anyone - okay? It just makes things clearer.
Q: Could you send me a list of all the things that Darkwing says
when he surprises one of the villains? As many as you can send. (I am
the terror that flaps in the night, I am the .....) all of those.
A: I just don't have time to compile a list like that out of the 100+ episodes that have aired. Requests like this aren't annoying or anything but they just don't take into account that I a) Don't have a whole lot of spare time, and b) don't really have much more access to all the DW episodes than a good number of any other DW fans.
Q: Question, do you think Licky as you all call him doesn't
he ever get lonely? Ya know? He's water how can he get a girlfriend?
Anyways the question is does he ever get lonesome?
A: The trouble with this question is that it's really a matter of guesswork on my part, and it can easily differ with someone else's opinion. I've answered questions like these in the past, but I'm not comfortable with them. My answer to this one would be, No, I don't think he does get lonesome. (How could he? He's got the Lobster Women!) But does that mean I'm *right*? No, of course not. And even though we're all aware that I could easily be wrong about *anything* I guess at in these FAQs, this is something that more people are more likely to have a differing opinion about; I'm sure there are fanfics on the subject, and everything. If there's one thing I don't want to do, it's drive away people who simply don't share my personal views on the characters. So I want to stick to what we do see on the show when I make my answers; and we've never seen evidence of Licky being lonely. My honest answer: I don't know; that's something that can only be explored in fanfics, IMHO.
Q: Do you think it's possible for QJ and Megs to be MORE
than just friends?
A: This is the latest variation on the "What kind of lovelife would this character have?" question I get rather often. I've answered them in the past, and there are only so many times i can say "I don't know, only fanfic can answer that", and so now I'm saying it directly. Please, folks, no more questions about who a character should be paired up with. As far as I'm concerned, you are ALL right, okay? There is no reason ANY character couldn't be paired up with ANY OTHER character (except DW and Gos, that's just squicky. I'm sorry to anyone who disagrees, but that just gives me queasiness. Ew). The fact that this particular question is slash (ie, male/male, though really it just means any two characters together) doesn't bother me; but what am I supposed to say in response? "Yes, definitely, they have real chemistry?" "No, absolutely not, they're both totally straight?" Or the one I've been saying the whole time: "I don't know, only fanfics can give an answer?" I can *never* give a definite response to this that is going to please everyone. I won't answer questions about what kind of woman Negaduck should be with, or if DW would be happier with someone who isn't Morgana, or whether Gosalyn and Honker would definitely get married when they get older, because there is no way for me to know. The series ended and it didn't show us what would happen. And that is why these kinds of questions drive me crazy - because there IS NO ANSWER, and I refuse to even minutely invalidate someone else's opinion by giving my own in a forum where it looks like I'm giving an "absolute" answer. Like I said - you are ALL right. There are a million different worlds out there in fanfics, and please, explore them, okay? And don't let anyone tell you that there's only one "right" way to go. And by the same token, if you don't like one of the directions being taken in fanfics, don't follow them. Start your own. Just don't get nasty about it - I've seen that happen in too many fandoms by this point... Er, sorry. Just a little battle-scarred here. ;)
Q: Where can I find a DW plushie?
A: I have no special links to Disney or the Disney Store or their merchandise. I don't own every DW-related object out there. In other words, I have NO IDEA where to get plushies, action figures, lamps, nightlights (I need a new one, mine broke about 8 years ago *sniffle*), or anything else. My first recommendation is eBay, or one of the other online auction houses; if those fail you, I'm afraid I don't know where to go. What my knowledge covers is *most* of the television show (and I am not infallible); outside of that, I'm afraid I'm as lost as you are. ^_~
Q: I have an idea for a Launchpad show - where would I send it,
and would they anwser back?
A: Again, I have no connections to Disney. So asking me where to send manuscripts, or for addresses of voice actors or anything like that, is a waste of time. I don't know - sorry. :) Incidentally, friend, I don't think Disney will answer you back unless you're represented by an agent or the like. I don't think they even read fan scripts or series ideas, because if by some strange coincidence they are working on a similar project, they're open to a lawsuit from that fan claiming that they stole his idea. It's happened, I think to Star Trek.
Q: Yes, can you send me a screengrab of Dr. Rhoda Dendron,
please?
A: I don't send any screengrabs out to specific people, ever. I simply don't have the time to take personal requests. If you want to request screengrabs from a particular episode I'll add them to my "to do" list so that they have priority over some of the other eps, but please don't ever write to me and ask me to get a couple of shots of something in particular just for you... I don't have the time (my Snappy isn't even hooked up most of the time because the computer and the TV are across the room from one another 9_9). No matter how politely you ask, I'll still have to say no - sorry.
Q: Isn't the Liquidator/Bushroot/Launchpad/etc CUTE?
A: Um, this is rather awkward, 'cause I know I make it clear when I particularly like a character myself all OVER their page *hugs her picture of Launchpad*, but I'm going to have to ask people to please refrain from doing the same. Mainly because a) it's hard for me to think of something to say in response, and b) I'm actually going to run into space issues after a while with all the questions I've got in each FAQ. They're getting surprisingly long by now, and those ones just take up space. ...Though I'll admit it - I am amused by the "will such and such character go out with me?" jokey ones I've gotten before now. But like I said, I'm running out of answers to give *sigh*
So, that's it. Hope you guys don't hate me now, and that you'll appreciate that I really am doing this out of love for the show and its audience, but I am working on my own rather busy schedule and well-meaning attempts at being non-exclusionary... I don't want to discourage anyone from continuing to send in questions, but if you send in one of the kinds I've listed up here, it won't be posted. That's all I've got to say...
So let's get back to the main reason you're here! ^_^
