I have had, occasionally, a person here and there ask me about Drake's ancestry. I answered that I did not know, and this has sparked a lot of internet research into the Mallard family name by readers here. Here's all the Mallard-tracking that has been sent to me, and I'm always happy to get more! Thanks, guys!

From Dimadick@hotmail.com:
Are there any ancestors of the Mallards mentioned during the series? Searching through various Disney stories the only Mallards I found besides Darkwing,Negaduck and Gosalyn are the following three:
1)Molly Mallard.A coal miner in Glasgow, Scotland during the early 19th century.Married fellow coalminer "Dirty" Dingus and gave birth to Angus "Pothole" McDuck(1829), Fergus McDuck(1830) and Jake McDuck(1832). By the way Fergus later became the father of Scrooge McDuck.
2)Katie Mallard.A Saloon owner Scrooge met in Goldopolis,Nevada on 1908.
3)Katie Bird Mallard.Katie's grandaughter that Scrooge met in Goldopolis on 1965(although in the current continiuty that happened between 1947 and 1952.)
Any other Mallards?

From sailor_mmsis@sailormoon.com:
I'd like to make a correction about Dimadick's list of Mallards. Katie Mallard's grandaughter was named Ducky Bird, not Katie Bird. Also, I have found other Mallards by searching around the glorious Internet:
4) Maui Mallard, AKA Cold Shadow. A detective / ninja who stars in the Disney video game "Maui Mallard In: Cold Shadow." Many people mix up Maui with Donald Duck, but he looks more like Fenton Crackshell in the game than Donald...
5) Eider Mallard, aunt of Scrooge McDuck and one of his rivals, John D. Rockerduck.
6) John D. Rockerduck's mother was a Mallard, but her first name is unknown.
7) Captain Mallard, who surprisingly isn't a duck! He looks like another water bird of some sort, with a long beak. He's of French origin, apparently, and he has wide cheeks like Drake. He is seen in the DuckTales episode, "Merit-Time Adventure."
8) Erwin Mallard, successful director who makes movies of disasters. He's constantly pursued by has-been actors and actresses, such as Gloria Swansong. He appears in the DuckTales episode, "The Uncrashable Hindentanic."

From dw-at-martianunlimited.uni.cc:
Just to add to the list of Mallards families, there is a Mallard named Mel Mallard who was Donald Duck's cousin in the series QuackPack, (hmm.. DarkWing Duck is potentially Donald Duck's cousin)
