Full name: Dr. Reginald Bushroot
Age: Hard to tell. As a full duck he was mostly bald, but this doesn't prove anything... he could have just lost his hair at an early age. My guess is, early 30's - old enough to have a doctorate and obtained a relatively established position at St. Canard University, but young enough to still be something of a "junior scientist" in the eyes of his coworkers.
Appearance: Is a mutant plant-duck, so has attributes of both a lyceum nycanthropus plant, and a duck. Green skin, vines for arms, leaves for hands, and below his waist he appears to be made of roots in the shapes of two legs. Has leaves where a duck's tail feathers would be. "Hair" is composed of purple foliage with several anthers springing up. And his eyes are blue, awwww. ;)
First Appearance: "Beauty and the Beet".
Relationship to Darkwing: One of DW's main enemies, but has teamed up with him temporarily on at least three different occasions.
Known relatives: None mentioned.
Occupation: Criminal; scientist; sometime-member of the Fearsome Five.
Special Skills: His mutation gives him a telepathic rapport with plants, and he can make them act in ways they normally would not (ie, trees uproot themselves and walk around). Also, his body has the abilities of a plant, so he can extend his arms like vines and entwine things in them, ingest water through his "feet", etc. Can grow himself back after being mowed. Can evidently take on aspects of other plants, such as a log. Can grow himself a new body and leave the old husked one behind. Is an accomplished scientist with a special talent for chemical formulas.
Quirks: Is motivated more by loneliness and a desire for attention than by greed; even though he can grow back from most damage, generally lets others do the fighting for him (plants, others in the Fearsome Five, etc); best friend/henchman is a large venus flytrap named Spike; is the whiniest supervillain ever known. *g*
Episodes: "Beauty and the Beet" (origin), "Night of the Living Spud", "Slime Okay, You're Okay", "It's a Wonderful Leaf", "Just Us Justice Ducks" pt. 1 and 2, "Life, the Negaverse, and Everything", "Twin Beaks", "Jail Bird", "Darkwing Doubloon", "Easy Comes, Easy Grows", "The Incredible Bulk", "A Star Is Scorned".
We all know Bushroot. Deep down inside, don't we all have a sensitive,
cowardly, rather whiny part of us that we've hidden away? A side who has
known unrequited love and teasing from big ugly nerdy scientists? A side
that has been turned into a mutant plant-duck? I know I do, and I'm sure
if you all look in your hearts, you'll find your Reginald Bushroot, as well.
He'll be the one saying "Nooooo! Not the mower!!!"
What mysteries of life surround Bushroot? Why is he a villain when he
so obviously is not cut out for it? Is his hair dyed purple, or is it natural?
Why is he so whiny- er, sensitive? These are all questions which may or
may not be answered here. You'll have to read and find out. ;)
